Objectives of the Course This course encompasses a hands-on workshop process aimed at developing students' skills in still life, portrait, and landscape painting using fundamental drawing techniques such as charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and wash. Throughout the semester, students work on different materials and subjects, basing their work on the principles of light and shadow, proportion, perspective, and composition; they develop their technical skills, observational abilities, and aesthetic expression.
Course Content This course encompasses a practical studio process in which students develop still life, portrait, and landscape studies using fundamental painting and drawing techniques such as graphite, pastel, watercolor, and ink wash. Throughout the semester, students work with various materials and subjects while applying principles of light–shadow, proportion, perspective, and composition, thereby strengthening their technical skills, observational abilities, and artistic expression.
