Objectives of the Course The aim of this course is to enable students to use English as a basic means of communication in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). By the end of the course, students are expected to reach CEFR A1–A2 level outcomes.
Course Content The course is based on Smart Choice 1 (Oxford University Press) and covers CEFR A1–A2 level outcomes:
Grammar
•The verb be (affirmative, negative, questions)
•The verb be in questions and short answers
•a / an, some / any
•Present Simple (I play, I don’t play, Do you play?)
•Present Simple (affirmative, negative, questions)
•Past Simple of be (was/were)
Vocabulary
•Key classroom phrases, countries
•Jobs, workplaces
•Food items, meals
•Sports and activities
•Daily routines, activities
•Common problems (e.g., being late, feeling sick)
Speaking Skills
•Introducing yourself and a partner
•Talking about jobs
•Ordering food and drink
•Talking about sports you like
•Talking about everyday life and routines
•Talking about problems and situations in the past
Other Skills
•Listening to introductions, reading student profiles, writing a short paragraph about yourself
•Listening to people talk about their jobs, reading a survey about jobs, writing sentences about jobs
•Listening to restaurant conversations, reading about international food, writing about what you eat and drink
•Listening to people talk about sports, reading a sports article, writing about sports you do
•Listening to people’s daily routines, reading about daily life, writing about your day
•Listening to conversations about problems, reading a text about problems, writing about something that happened yesterday
Course Methods and Techniques - Communicative Approach: Real-life communication practices.
- Lectures and presentations: Grammar and vocabulary teaching.
- Q&A and group work: Role-play, pair and group activities.
- Multimedia use: Audio, video, and digital platforms.
- Reading and writing activities: Short texts, emails, and diaries.
